SECURITY OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

We know that our customers trust us to protect their personal information. We take this seriously. We have taken steps to protect the personal information in our custody and control. For example, we restrict access to personal information to those of our employees and authorized service providers who require such information for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. We have taken reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect against unauthorized access, use, modification and disclosure of personal information in our custody and control.

To provide you with a higher level of security, online access to certain personal information may be protected by a password of your choice. We strongly recommend that you do not share your password with anyone. The Musée de la Gaspésie will never ask you for your password in an unsolicited communication.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, you should be aware that, unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be considered absolutely secure. Accordingly, the Musée de la Gaspésie does not represent or warrant that personal information will not be lost, misused or altered, and does not assume any responsibility or liability for any personal information you transmit to the Musée de la Gaspésie, or for the use or misuse of personal information by you or any third party.

Here are a few recommendations to help you store safely online.

If you're using a public computer, always log off when you're finished.

Don't share your passwords. Remember that anyone who knows your password can access your account.

When creating a password, use at least eight characters - preferably a combination of letters and numbers. Don't use words from a dictionary, your name, e-mail address or other personal information that can be easily obtained. We also recommend that you change your password often. If you need help, click on the "Your account" link, then on the "Change your password" tab, make the desired changes and click on the "Save" button.

Use a different password for each of your online accounts.

Beware of unsolicited e-mails and phone calls.

In addition, the Musée de la Gaspésie will never contact you to request information about your credit card number or bank account. This type of information is only sent to the Musée de la Gaspésie when you make a transaction, contact the Musée de la Gaspésie directly or modify your account online. If you receive a suspicious e-mail with a link to update your account information, do not click on it. Access your account directly at www.museedelagaspesie.ca. If you are contacted by a stranger who sends you an unsolicited e-mail or asks you to confirm or provide your password or personal or banking information, ignore the request and contact us immediately.

For security reasons and to prevent fraud, credit card orders placed through this Web site will be accepted by the Musée de la Gaspésie only if the name and billing address match the name on the purchaser's credit card and the address on the purchaser's credit card file. If the information does not match, your order will be refused, even if the transaction has been pre-authorized by your bank. In this case, the reserved order amount can only be collected once the credit has been applied to your account, which may take three to five business days.

CHANGES TO OUR PRIVACY POLICY

This Privacy Policy may be updated periodically to reflect changes in our privacy practices. The revised Privacy Policy will be posted on the Website. We will treat your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Policy in effect at the time of collection, or as otherwise agreed with you.
